Story Status Update

Life has intervened in a big way and I haven’t had much time to write. Nothing bad has happened, though, and I’m doing fine. My boss retired three weeks ago and I’ve taken over most of his responsibilities. I’m rediscovering why I dislike managing: Everything comes back to me eventually and I find myself doing a lot of administrative busy work. I’m hiring a new employee, though, and hope that eventually I’ll have a more manageable schedule.

In the meantime, I’ve been writing the Orc story that I teased about a while back. (It’s really good and has a particularly devious plot, if I do say so myself.) I’m also writing a couple of other stories that take place in contemporary times. Given my schedule, I’m surprised by how many pages I’ve written. Still, I’ve learned that I have a much better completion rate if I wait to post my stories until after they’re done. If I post a couple of chapters, odds are good that I’ll get distracted by another story and then may not come back to it.

Unfortunately, this means that you, Dear Reader, have to wait longer to enjoy the fruits of my loins labor. 😉 I’ll try not to keep you waiting too long, though. Thank you for being so patient!

Plot Teasers

Orc Story: Archer is a marine on a hostile planet infested with Orcs. When an Orc is captured bearing the signet ring of Archer’s former lover, he seeks revenge. Before he can kill the Orc, though, he learns that his young shieldmate, Keating, might be held captive by the Orcs and sets out to free him. Of course, nothing goes according to plan.

Wilderness Transformation: Stockton is a rock climber who meets a mysterious stranger while far away from civilization. The man turns out to be the quarterback on a famous college football team. Why is he all alone in the middle of nowhere without any gear? And why is he so reluctant to tell his story? Might he hiding something sinister both in his pants and in his past?

Skinheaded: Zander in on his way to his first day of work as an actuary with an insurance firm when he punches the wrong button on the elevator and ends up in the basement. There, he is accosted by a scary-looking freak of a man who mistakes him for an employee of a moving and trucking company. Whisked away, Zander finds himself going down a path to more and more permanent, extreme and unpleasant transformations.
